Sump Lights on all the time?

Are the lights over your refugium supposed to be on all the time or should they be off at some point? I guess i'm worried about the fixture being on all the time.

I believe the general rule of thumb is to run it opposite to your display light cycle.

I leave mine on all the time but I just have cheato

I ran mine opposite of daylight cycle when I had my fuge setup. Had chaeto in there.

The only time that 24h lighting is warranted is when you are growing calupera. It's to prevent the algae from going sexual. If you have chaeto, you should run the lights opposite to the dt to help balance the ph.

I agree with Ston3 you should run the lights opposite of your display tank to keep the ph balance

Chaeto will actually grow better if only run 12-14 hrs a day, it needs a rest period.

to me 14 hrs is just good enough. my schedule time is from 2 am to 4pm for my refugium and my algea chateo grow really fast

by the way my PH never goes below 8.00
