Sump opinions

Hi all, long time no see.

Just picked up a 5 foot 150 gallon and am looking for opinions on what size sump I should go with. Bigger is always better and I have a 55 gallon I could use but toying with the idea of going with a different dimension sump.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Mike! Welcome back! You back in the area!

Will your sump be in stand under tank? Or remote location? As you know, my sump capacity equals my display tank size.... Make sure sump can handle all of the water that can (not will, but can) drain into it in a power shutdown....

Hey Joel, still in the area....never left...just stopped with the salt and reef hobby.

I am building a stand for the tank so the sump will be under the tank. It is a reef ready tank and has 2-1.1/4 drains and 2-3/4inch returns. It can handle a lot of flow.

I think the stand will need a center brace but if not, I can put pretty much anything underneath it.

I'd get the deepest one you can fit, honestly....Good to see you getting back!

I have been fighting hell for a while and sort of need drastic measures (search in here for links to other threads from last two days). If you want to cook some really amazing rock that currently is plagued with a vicious algae, let me know....
