Look in the DIY section theres lots of info on sumps,Im using a pond pump i got from Home Depot,im sure theres lots better pumps for better price.thats just what i had so thats what im using,i think it was acctually kinda pricy like 45.00 or somthing.Aquatraders has good prices on pumps but they nail you on shipping.

There are lots of options. First of all, what is the drain pipe diameter. You don't want to pump more water in tank than drain can handle. For purpose of the discussion I'd assume drain is 1", so theoretically it can handle up to 600gph. So, that's your absolute limit for pump's throughput accounting for headloss.
Now, on the practical side, you don't want water moving too fast through the sump. Because, fast flow through the sump will pull microbubbles back to display tank. Very annoying. Unfortunatelly, there are no hard rules for this type of thing. Personally, I had found that for 30g sump Eheim 1260 marginally OK (depending on your sump configuration). I'd use less powerfull model 1250. This model should work fine with 20g sump too.
For the rest of the circulation in tank use powerheads or closed loop.
Good luck :)
