Sump question

Just took a look at my sump and where the water comes in and filters through my socks and the water level was about a 1/4 above the socks but it's usually flat. Thought the socks might be clogged. I put in brand new socks and no change. Tank has been setup since July. I've never cleaned the return pump. Could a weaker return flow cause a slight backup? I should probably clean it out anyway. Nothing else unusual. Tank water level is same etc etc.

Any other thoughts?

I would think so. I had a large pineapple sponge population in my sump, kept having high water level in the sump. I kicked everything off and cleaned the return, seemed to do it good. I think it would be worth a shot to at least check that off of your list.
