just wondering how do you go about picking out a return pump for a sump...is there a formula or somthing??? just some background info...im upgrading from my 55gal reeftank to a 75 gal and my 55 gal doesnt have a sump i just use a hob protien skimmer and hob refugium but with the 75gal setup id like to go with a overflow box and a 20gal sump...im trying to figure out how big of a return pump i need for it...any suggestions??

you want something that only pushes around 5-10x turnover after headloss. so on a 75 gal. you want a pump that can handle 375-750gph after headloss 3-5x is better IMO. or more important you want enough flow for what your skimmer is rated for.

thanks for the replys im only running a seaclone skimmer right now but will be upgrading in about an hour ha ha when I get off work
