ok i know this probably sounds stupid but i want to double check since i've always done the fuge setup instead of a sump but my father in law is setting up a sump

so i got this sump del rey 125

question is im taking a guess that heaters and what not go under the bio balls and the tall chamber the return pump goes in to

anyone have a pic i could see of them using this sump?

I would rethink your sump plans. Get rid of the bioballs and consider a filter sock for particulates. I would also figure out a way to add a fuge to the system. Your going to want a protein skimmer, heater, return pump, and filter sock in the sump. I would use a second heater in the display (calculate total heating wattage needed and divide by two heaters, one in display and one in sump). Leave room to add a couple of media reactors in or on the sump as you will likely want to add carbon and/or phosphate media reactors at some point in the future. If it were me I would go ahead and put them online now.

well playa this is going to be a fish only tank and wanting something very simple to take care of..... i know about the bioballs being nitrate heavens but really, getting it for 35$ made it even more tempting....

so im going to stick with the bioballs for the moment..

but is that the proper spot for the heaters is below the bioballs...

don't have that sump but that is where i keep mine... just try to get one where the controls are not on the heater... otherwise you need to take out all the balls to adjust the temp

Sorry to hear that. I think you should get a salt water screen saver until you can set up a tank properly. Do yourself and your fishies a favor.
