I have a 100 g stock tank that I use. I divided it by using gutter guard zip tied on milk crates to have a place for some macro algae and a stand for the skimmer.
I divided by return water into two: one rains gently on the macro algae bins and the other half creates a swirl in the tub.
over all it works great for my classroom. It allows me to take micro brittles and worms out for labs with ease and is easy to clean

If I had to take a guess it was a server issue or just a accident when he hit submit. He asked a question about a sump I am sure he wasnt looking for a lecture, I am sure he would rather keep his post on topic.
Anyways I too use rubermaid containers for my sump, I didnt separate them I just put two in place, one higher than the other and put a bulkhead on it so it drains to the second one.
I have double posted a couple times, I think it is just a glitch as I only it submit once but got two
The milk crates allow you to keep algae types seperated if you like or to grow out some mangroves as I do. I cut a thin slit in the drain pipe so it makes a curtain of water that falls on the macro and the trees (well just into the tree bins)
I also like the strength of the rubbermaid tubs. much tougher than an acrylic tank. although its nice to have the flow control of that style sump.
