Sump Questions

I've seen it before but the search function isn't working and I can't remember, how much flow is recommended through a sump? I have a 72 gallon display tank and I'm trying to figure out what kind of a return pump I need to get for the sump to go along with a lifereef overflow box? The sump is probably going to be a 29 gallon AGA tank. Also anyone have any recommendations for a quiet pump?

I'd go for about 500gph through your sump. Should be sufficient. I personally prefer about 300gph through mine but anywhere between 3-700 should be fine. Quiet One makes a pump that does like 475gph (I think?) that would be a good choice, there next size up does alot more if memory serves correct. 3-5x turnover is what I see recmomended more often.

keep in mind head hight reduces pump output. if you get a little bigger pump you can always tee off the return and regulate to just where you want.

I think when your trying to decide on a retun pump size you have to find one that matches your output from the tank.
