Sump/refuge/Scimmer Flow

If I have a 100g tank, I know i need at least 20x per hour flow, but exactly how much of that flow needs to go through the sump/refuge/scimmer setup each hour?

Will be making the overflow once I know what kinda flow I need going through it. Will be supplementing the rest of the movement needed with closed loops.

oh ok I thought that you were talking about a tank that had a built in overflow cause those have recommended water flow on them I know that my 120 gallon overflow is rated for 400gph

so its safe to assume running 400g for a 100g tank will be enough to keep the water clean, provided I use loops to keep the rest of the tank moving?

Im planning on basically drilling and creating the overflow myself as my tank doesn't have fittings for one, I plan on putting the return on the opposite corner so the surface constantly flows towards the overflow. I then plan on using at least 3 or 4 loops hidden behind the coral and scaping to generate the rest of the needed water movement. Does that sound like a viable option?
