I ended up with two 30ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s one long and one tall. I am a African guy for seems like about 6 years or so. A friend of mine as talked me into setting up a reef tank with those two 30ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s. It is the plan to use the long for the reef and the tall for the refugium / sump. We are kind of debating on just how to set up this part. Below is a crude drawing of what we have arrived at and I thought Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢d open it up for some ideas.
Here was our thinking in the order of things. To reduce the bubble issue we feel like having the skimmer in the first part of the sump will allow them to dissipate before water is returned to the reef. Having a bubble trap first would seem to further aid in this process but its design is a mixed bag right now. We cannot seem to decide how many walls and what spacing would be optimal. The drawing is showing 4 spaced an inch apart but that is open to debate.
The wall separating the refugium section and the Mag7 pump is there really only because I feel its probably best to keep the pump away from the sand so as not to disturb it and also to keep it out of the pump itself. I figure those are probably both good reasons and the only thing that is giving me pause is the desire to have the refugium section as big as I can. Anyone think of any way to just have the pump in that section or have it pump out of that section some how?
