what is your budget? you can use a standard 30 gallon tank and put in dividers using plex-glass. or you can go as simple as using a heavy duty rubber-maid container with a filter sock on the intake. I prefer the glass tank tho. I also made my own overflow box.
For my 30 gallon display w/ 10 gal refugium i bought a tank at walmart (about $12.00 or so) and bought plex-glass and aquarium safe silicone. I used a plastic cool aid jug ($5.00) with a U-tube ($5.00 used) and pvc and flex tubing for my overflow box. I can post pictures if you want to see...
i would be interested in doing this with my 75. how big of a tank would i use? i have a 29h and a 20 i use to use for freshwater. is it easy to drill my tank? or can i even?
for sump/refugium..... the bigger the better. and for drilling your tank its not that hard at all (just make sure its not tempered glass. you just need a diamond drill bit and a drill. i drilled my dads tank this past summer and it came out perfect. here is a video of how easy it is....
Pictures would be cool. I would like for do this for less than $275 (the less expensive the better). The youtube video says a 80-100 diamond drill bit...yikes. I don't even think I would use it again outside of this.
