Sump sections

The main advantage I see to putting the fuge last is that you can control how much flow it gets. I'm not sure how much flow you were planning through your sump but if it's massive then fuge last might be a good idea.

I'm currently building a 40b sump with this in mind. I like the idea of controlling the flow through the fuge and even shutting it off if need be. I've drilled holes on top of the fuge baffle which is not shown in this pic

The glass for my sump is sitting in the garage so assembling it is my task for today, in between getting my tank up and on the stand that I built. The sump is 44 x 19 x 16 and it would have been a lot cheaper to buy a 40b but I wanted to maximize space in my cabinet. It will be rimless and I am going to raise the bottom panel a little so I don't need a mat under it.

Don't sumps look nice when they are new!

With my constant changing of my mind I ended up with a stand smaller than I originally wanted. Long story short, I planned for a 75g display, settled for adding this sump to my current 36 bow front, and now ending up with a 40b display and a 40b sump lol. Luckily I had all the wood already from years ago.

I painted the back, bottom and sides of the sump black. It sure does look pretty! I'm hoping it stays like that for a little while

Tee off the return pump also allows the baffle height to be set much higher, increasing fuge water volume.

This too! I wanted as large as a fuge as possible. The baffle is about 11" high where I drilled the holes and the baffle itself is 12. If I had it in the middle, it would've only been 8" or so
