I am going to be setting up a 55RR with a basement sump I just wanted some feedback as to If I should do 3 20 gallon rubbermades or 3 20 gallon glass tanks? the flow is going to be Tub/tank 1 Skimmer Calcium REactor and other filtering media
Tub/Tank 2 Refugium
Tub/Tank 3 Top Off and Return pump

Whichever I do is going to be drilled and connected with 2" pipe what do yall think?

Read somewhere that "certain" rubbermaids are not recommended (something about whats in the plastic)...I know the "Brute" rubbermaids are "OK".

I think what you decide on will depend on a number of factors (ex. how much space you have/will need; intended use; cost; etc...), gut rubbermaids are just fine!

I have plenty of room a full basement....actually I just bought my first house so Im setting this one up right from the begining

glass tanks- at least for the one that you will have going to your return pump. you can put baffles in much easier. Not sure there is a super sturdy 20 gallon rubbermaid. I have heard of them failing sometimes when used more than 1/2 full. Are you set on a 55 gallon? If not, then go with a 75. Much bigger difference front to back space- lenght and height are same.

I guess my point is that it really isn't any more work, and really does not require any extra lighting- just a little more circulation.
