I recently acquired a 75 gallon acrylic tank and a 55 acrylic tank.
I'm thinking of building a stand that will have the 75 as the main tank and the 55 as the sump. Is this overkill?
Thanks, I figure I'll divide up the space in the 55 using acrylic or plexi and fish tank silicone. I want to put in a bubble trap, a return and a section for a skimmer beside the refugium, although I agree it should be sizable.

i would say that you can never go to big when it comes to a sump! are you planning on keeping the sump in the stand? if so you will def need to build a custom stand!

I'm going to attempt a custom stand, big enough underneath for the 55 (48x15x15) and accessories, lights, skimmer and wide enough on top for the 75 (48x20hx18w). All this, mind you, hidden from the scorching glare of my wife's disapproval.
