one final question for the cpr overflow do i need some type of pump to suck in the water to go down into the sump, or will it suck the water down there automatically?
Thanks
Duds
The lift pump will pull the water up as the air is removed. It will also remove any air that gets trapped in the overflow chamber. The more flow that is used the more air that will enter the chamber. If you are going to use a small pump for return you can hook up a air line and use your lungs to remove the air then put the air hose in one rear where the water is held when the power goes out. I prefer the lift pump.
If you are buying it new from a online vendor, ask them. If you are buying a used unit and even if it comes with it, I would buy a new one. I've heard they don't have a real long life span.
Drs Foster Smith, Pet Solutions and Marine Depot do not include the lift pump. The pump can be had for around $10.00 at Drs Foster Smith and Pet Solutions. I think Marine Depot is more expensive.
