Ok after hearing a million times I should get a sump and still not really understanding what it does except filter my tank I have decided to take all the advice.

I of course do not wnt to build it and after finding a new lfs last night Fish town usa. I was also told to get one.

So now to the question the one in the store had bio balls and he said they were good .I asked here some said no what is the majority vote?

also he gave me a price of $350 for tank and pump ready to go for my 75 gallon is there anyone else who knows of a place in NY,quens nY where to get one Or for that matter a lfs in the Queens Ny area that is reputable?

This one seemed ok but they did ot have alot of saltwater fish selction.

Absolutely no bioballs. PITA. They just include them---reefers toss them. Do you have any idea what kind of critter you're going to keep?
What a sump does: you can set up a fuge in it; your skimmer sits in it; your heater goes in it; you do all your addition of supplements in it [calcium, alk, magnesium] so it doesn't shock your corals.
What size is this sump? Sounds a little pricey. Is your tank pre-drilled? Did this include a hang-on downflow? Hose? Durso? What kind of gear is in this setup? What size pump? Brand? For a 75 I'd say at least a mag 12. I ran a mag 9.5 in my corner bow 54 and thought it just a shade underpowered...but on a 12 you might want to include a ball valve in the line in case it comes through too strong.

As I stated I have no clue about what they contain the lfs said for my size tank with the pump $350 If I have learned one thing in my 12 days of this hobby is check arould before buying.

This is why I am asking .
All he said and this is why I did not buy it is it is th eengine for your tank you need it .I thought it sounded a bit high for the small size.

Also why I asked if anyone knew of a lfs in ny
