i was at the (big home improvement/farm type) store and i looked at some pumps and they had the sump pump utility pump style pumps that had thermoplastic housings and impellers that push like 1500-2000gph 1/6hp 2.5a somthing like 14ft max head i was wondering why not? they were like $40-50 and probabaly are not that loud, i have a sump pump about that size i use to drain my hot tub and its pretty quiet for what it can push

i figure most people must avoid them because they have to atleast have a metal shaft, that problt wont last more then a year without severe rusting in a saltwater sump.. also they are not magdrive so they can jam up, but they sure flow alot for the $

My first thought is that they are not made for continuous run operation. For sump to tank operation, they would need to run continuously. My guess is that they wouldn't last long.
