Sump

Hi,

I had purchased a 15 gal. Precision Marine sump from you guys. Because of my hectic schedule and the holiday madness I decided holding off setting up my tank until after the holidays. Now that I finally have been able to get around to installing my sump, I have some questions and concerns. The sump was to house a Deltec 1250 Turbo skimmer and a Mag 7. The PM sump has 2 chambers, one where the water from the display tank drains into and the main chamber. Dividing the 2 chambers are baffles. I am not sure if this is the proper placement for baffles since I thought they were should follow the skimmer and thereby reduce the amount of bubbles being transported back into the main tank. Isnt that the purpose of the baffles. I'm baffled. Anyhow, since the 1st compartment is too small for either my skimmer or mag I will have to place both in main chamber. Is it okay to have both the skimmer and the return pump in the same chamber. If so,should the skimmer be placed before the return pump? Thanks for your assitance. I am hoping to get this set up so that I can order my LR from you guys.

Hi Gary,

Unfortunately that is the way Precision Marine baffles their sumps. You shouldn't have any problems putting both your skimmer and the return pump over to that side. I would however put the skimmer first, and then the return pump on the other side of that.

Thanks,
Jeremy
