Sun coral questions

Just bought the biggest sun I've seen, about 6-7 in rock encrusted on both sides. I've been doing bucket feedings for The past week and still very lil polyp extension. Also when I take it out of the tank it turns my hands orange. is that normal? How long do bucket feedings usually last before extension?

Turning your hand orange is not normal. It means the tissue has degenerated to the point that it can literally be wiped off. I've seen this is corals that have been malnourished for an extended period of time.

If you're getting some polyp extension then you're on the right track. Keep at it and the polyps will continue to extend further. Eventually the coral will be able to repair it's tissue. There's no time table for how long it will take with these guys, depends on your specific coral.

There is polyp extension just not much and the polyps are very
Full. I guess u could say they look meaty which I thought was a good sign.
