Sun Coral

I was wondering how to frag one, my mom loves mine when its open so i wanted to cut a head off for her nano. But i dont want to damage the whole coral in the processs!!! anybody know how?

The tissue around sun corals are very sensitive, so it'll be hard to cut into it without killing a few heads on it. If it's a decent size then I guess just take a dremel and cut a a small group of heads on the edge of it. I've never seen a single head of a sun coral that wasn't of the branching kind, so it seems like a pretty tricky thing to do.

if you don't mind me asking...how are you feeding. target or simply putting food in the water?

i am target feeding everynight to any heads that are open when im feeding

I feed mine every 2 days, last time I fed it for around 40 minutes. I stuff each head with mysis using wooden tongs and feed each one repeatedly until I feel I've given them enough. They always appear to be hungry though, anytime I place food in the tank the polyps very slowly start to creep out.

Hummmm......I guess I should start hand feeding the little bugger.

Well it's the only way they can get food, so the growth will be much better and faster.
