Sun Coral

WHAT IS WRONG. IT WANT COME OUT. I HAVE HAD IT FOR ONE WEEK .AN I DONT SEE ANY SIGN OF LIFE. IS IT DEAD.

The Orange is the live part, it most likely come out at night. You should feed it (every head) every other day. Try taking a turkey baster and mysis shrimp and squirt some around it at night, you should see it open up then.

You might want to do a search of this website. Several of us have/had suncorals. I made a feeding hood to go over mine so my fish would not get all the mysis/brine mixture I feed the coral. There are some directions on here somewhere showing how to make the hood, which is very simple and kind of looks like a spaceship. Anthelia totally took over my suncoral. I now have a dendrophylia, which is similar to a sun coral and it started with 3 heads from the frag swap and now has 4. I feed it in the same way every 2-3 days. To get mine to open, I mix up a little reef chili and squirt it in there with the coral and give it a few minutes to come out prior to giving it the mysis/brine. I think Scott has some sun coral. They are non-photosynthetic corals and require regular feedings.

i read that they they need to be fed every couple days to keep them happy and healthy

before I sold mine ( down sizing) I would squirt a little food over it then come back 30 min or so later and it would be open or opening then give it more food.
