Sun Corals

Here are a few snaps of 3 of the sun corals I have.

Have a few dendros and blanos but no pics yet.

Anyone know of any good NPS stores or vendors?

I cant find any stores or wholesalers that can find or take the time to find rare color variations of sun corals.

Just my two bit, sun corals don't require lighting but need to be fed regularly. They generally open up like that when the lights are off or when they are hungry. I have three in my tank all three rescued from various hobbyists and they open up more or less around the same time every evening.

I've found sun corals to be very very easy to maintain. Once they get on a routine they'll pop out around the same time every night. I usually feed mine fish pellets. Smaller the better. They reproduce very quickly and my shrimp clean up the mess around them. They'll also steal from the coral as well, but normally they can't get all of the food.

I've been feeding around 3 times a week. Currently looking for an orange or black version.

Yea I just redid the tank today, but prior to that it was a 30ish gal tank with a deep sand bed, macro and mangroves in the back. I was using as a frag tank and today I added a 30 gal frag tank and a 20 gal sump. I will take pics of it later.

As for lights, it was under a 4 bulb sunlight supply fixture and 2 power blue geis and 2 actinic plus geis bulbs.

But like said above they come out for food, not light. They start to peek out about 30 min before lights go out and stay out all night. I just turn on lights after they are extended to train them to stay out all day.

I feed them daily, mix of mysis brine rots amino oyster eggs artic pods. a slurry of everything.

I turn off pumps and feed over the course of a few hrs.

Then I suck up the excess.

I am now running the four bulb on my frag tank and just a two bulb with 2 blue spectrum bulbs for viewing light. I am going to bring my black sun coral, dendro and blano home in the next few day.

I work for a pet shop and do the saltwater there, so I was cheating by having something of mine to look at in the display tank.

650 gal shark tank. Sure made feeding easy, no way I could over feed.
