Sun polyps are hardy but have some special needs. They need to be fed enriched brine shrimp or micro plankton. They don't need much light, they need moderate to high waterflow.
Just wondering, since the sun coral are non-photosynthetic coral. Will it survive if I put them inside my sump with just a bit fuge light and feed frozen food everyday?
There is a great sticky on the top of the forum on feeding Large Polyp non-photosynthetic corals which is a good read. For how easy they are to care for can be a sometimes tricky question to answer as each aquarst's skill set is different First try to make sure you are working with a specimin that is good shape, polyps expanded, no parasites and has been being fed. A lot easier starting off with your first tubastrea in this manner.
For how fast does it spread? Slow to moderate if fed daily and parameters are kept in line.
