SunBlaze t5 fixture?

Thanks redfishsc and sdime0, your inputs are very much appreciated.

Dave, for some reason I cant get to the homeharvest website, maybe it will work later. I did a search for hydroponics in chicago and theres a retail place that sells them so I might take a ride out there. I think the cheapest I've seen though was on ebay, although they didnt come with bulbs.

the ones on ebay do come with bulbs, but they are not to great. I switched my bulbs as soon as I got it. They come with 10k(more like 6500k) and actinic.

Wow! thanks for the pictures! that looks like a really decent light for the price. Does anyone know if you can replace the endcaps with waterproof ones? also, how do people feel about putting a peice of glass under the bulbs to keep them dry?

From what I have heard acrylic or lexan is a much better choice for a shield than glass, as glass blocks a lot more light.

Both ATI and Tek lights use acrylic shields.

Well... I'm going to give one a try. Premium Aquatics has the 48" 8 bulb version for $199 with no bulbs. They also have 10% off and free shipping for Black Friday. $179.95 to my door is crazy!!!

creepy you really cant go wrong with this light for what you pay. Swap in some good bulbs like I did and call it a day.

Any questions I'll try and answer.

I also got one of those fixtures off ebay. I've had it for about two months now and everythings ok. I have 8 24" T5s over my 55gal (originally purchased for a different tank), I retrofit them into my canopy. Here's a pic of what they look like on my tank. They are the original bulbs but I will be upgrading to ATI bulbs soon.

These are 4 10k and 4 actinic.

Growth hasn't been too bad. Zoas seem to like it, my ora green leather has doubled in size, and I have an acan frag that has 6-7 new heads growing. I'm sure it would be impresive with some good bulbs. once I get new bulbs i'm going to try some sps, maybe some monti caps.

You should be more than capable of growing monti caps, cactus pavona, bird's nest, and maybe even millepora under the lights you currently have----

gar ,nice tank like the frag rack, you should have no problem with SPS. I have the 4 bulb 48" fixture and I have monti's, acropora, and birdnest(on bottom of the tank). All have been great so far.

The reflectors on this light are great! Reflectors are Arced shaped and MIRROR finish. I have had this light for over 1 year. No problems with it growing anything and I have a 30" deep!! I am purchasing another 8 bulb since I ordered a 48x48x20 cube. But 16 bulb change is gonna be a little spendy!! lol. Downside to fixture... Only one power cord. But rewire is def worth the price.

P.S. Just because its cheap doesn't mean its not a great fixture.

I use a bad boy 6 bulb t5 fixture over one of my frag tanks. It grows anything I want including sps, acro, etc. I will never shell out crazy money on light fixtures again, especially over my grow out tanks. This fixture has two bulbs per reflector and no fan....$159.00
