Hanging Kit

Great Kit. I use one. I prefer the hanging kit as it makes adjusting the height easy as well as easy when doing maintenance. Gives you flexibility.

I am using the double hanging kit that uses the compression pegs. To adjust, simply unscrew, pinch and slide. Then screw tight again and done.

Actually, that is the one I am speaking of and or using. No pitfalls, very solid and not one problem.

Althought there are all sorts of fittings and grippers those are the ones sold for aquarium lighting.

For more information look at the linked site below. In general, the gripper is a fitting at the bottom end that on one end is attached via a screw to the lights. The fitting (Gripper) is perforated and the cable enters the top and exits one side. THe gripper holds to the cable when pulling down. To slide it up or down you push-in the top of the gripper were the cable enters it and it lets go of the cable and you can slide it up or down.

The kit you link to has a gripper like the MGR-SE 1/4-20-EXT in the link below

The gripper does an excellent job. I have a 72" metal halide / PC / VHO combo hood made of glass and aluminum (pretty heavy) hanging from three single cables as the ones shown and never had it fall or slip down.
If you will be rising and lowering the hood very often (Like for maintaing the tank) I will suggest to attach hooks on the hood and on the ceiling in addition to the hangers so you can temporary attach some small chains to rise the hood. You can just un-hook and remove the chains after you are done. This way you do not have to readjust the height and the gripper or cable will not wer out.

Hi

How does this kit keep the light from tipping backwards if the power cords are coming out the back of my PC fixture? My fixture is much heavier at the back left corner because of this and I am pretty sure that the fixture will not sit so that the light beams down directly into the tank.

Don't I need to connect the cable to two points on each end of the fixture? I.E. a total of 4 connection points with the fixture?

Thanks
Allan
