Sunpod 150watt HQI Light Schedule

What is everyone's lighting scheduled like with the Sunpod 150W HQI? I just ordered a Aquapod 24 with this light and I know that it has 3 separate controls - 1 for the white LED, 1 for the blue LED and 1 for the Halide. Just wondering how everyone is running this? I know they market these lights as 24 hour lighting systems.

I think the usefullness of the LED's as far as coral growth and health is still up for debate. They do make for good night time viewing and allow some nocturnal predators to see better in the night.

I belive the white/blue are really just colour differences for your enjoyment. Perhaps somebody else will chime in here though.

P.S. I almost bought that light last night, it was just a little too big for me. I want to be able to put T5's or something else in my tank along with the halide. Hope it works out for ya.

i usually turn the blue on in the am, 7:30, turn the white on for dawn effect around noon, then mh on at 12:30-1. trun off mh around 8-8:30, white off around 9:30 and blue off at 10. i could leave the blue on all night, but i cant sleep with it on!! lol.

Most of the time, I simply leave the LED's on all day. The MH comes on around 2:00pm, and turns off at 10:00pm.

Once in a while i will turn the white LED's off when i go to bed, so just the blue ones are on at night...Either way works great. AWESOME fixture!

Good luck! :)

I run mine 10:00 am to 7:45 pm. I use a digital timer with a short extension cord plugged into the nite tme outlet because the LED's transformers do not fit side by side. I also keep the white LED's switch off the blue is much nicer alone at nite. I keep a crocea clam and some sps's. Your needs may differ. HTH's

for me, blue LED's -24/7. white LED's 8am-1pm. halide on 1pm-11pm. then wLED's 11pm-12am. sometimes i get lazy to the last cycle of wLED's dont come on. dawn/dusk effect for the whites.

i leave the blue on when the halide is off. they are on altrinating timers. as far as the white i leave them on for an hour before the halide goes on and an hour after the halide goes off. HTH!!!

The LED's are useless... I have this same setup and want either a 20K bulb or actinic additions.. definetly!

yea the LED's just are for your enjoyment. but the blue LED's, they will make some of your corals glow. my zoos glow really nice under the blues.
