They're good little fixtures, but I think the mounting legs should hold them a bit higher above the tank. When I had mine I was constantly dealing with salt creep on the glass panel which shields the bulb. Finally, I could never get bulbs to fit into the socket easily. It took a while to get a bulb firmly in the socket, and it was easy to get less than 100% contact between the ends of the bulb and the ends of the socket. Oops, one more thing. The screws holding the ends of the fixture in place rusted quickly. Poor quality metal screws.
With that said, it's a great fixture for the price. I'd recommend hanging it instead of using the legs. This might take care of some of the problems I encountered. As so the fit of the bulb/socket, maybe that was just mine. It was 100% functionable, it just took some tweaking to get the fixture working at its best.
