Current USA SunPod PowerPaq HQI Lamp & Lunar Lights 30"

has anyone any experience of these? i heard current usa isnt a great brand...

anything better to light a 30" with?

I think Current USA is a great brand!
As for the powerpaq, i've heard nothing but good reports about them, but I cannot gaurantee you completely if it is good or not because I have never owned one.

nope...I got a 36" nova extreme for my 30"...there are not may fixtures for this size tank unfortunately...I was told that the nova extreme can be adjusted with the mounting legs to fit on my tank by marinedepot.com...still waiting for my lights to arrive...so I will hope and see...if they don't fit I have the email they sent to me that they said they would fit...I am not worried about them hanging over by 3" on each side...the sunpod was going to be my second choice

Can you be more specific as to which sunpod and what depth tank you're looking at using it on???

I like my 150w Sunpod ok on my 24g Aquapod, but wouldn't use it on anything larger...

Also, what are you wanting to keep??? How fast are you wanting things to grow??? Etc, etc.....

thanks guys...

randy you're right i should have been more specific...

the dimensions are 30"*18"*21"... looking to have mainly sps,and anemones as well... id like reasonable growth

I have four Sunpod units (1 1X250w, 1 2X250 and 2 150w units) and have never had any problems with them. I really like the M80 HQI ballasts on the 250's, but the 150 uses an electronic ballast which doesn't drive the lamps as hard.

I have also used Current USA pc fixtures with good results (for pc's). I just bought a 30" Sundial T5 for my 20 long and am very pleased with it. I have a high level of confidence in their products.

Hope that helps.

I have two 30" tanks and two Sunpods (150, 250) and love them both. I had a 20" version on a nano, and have never had a problem.

I have the 250 watt 30" version over my 29. I am very pleased with it. The fan was a little loud, so I ended up reversing it, quieter now. If I had to do it again I would get it.

Unplug the unit.

Take off the end cap where the fan is, and slide the panel with the moonlights a bit to give yourself room. Then unscrew the fan and flip it around, so that it is blowing out instead of in.

Think it took me all of 5 minutes to do.

cool...sounds pretty easy

im looking at the 250 w halide... i actually decided against the 30" tank and went with setting up my 18" cube that was sitting in the garage

so im looking at the 20" unit... just to check, will it work well with sps and anemones?

how far from the end do the lights go?

for my 18" cube im looking at the 20" 250w... i kinda wanted to hang it, as i want that look... would that work ok, or would i get a lot of light over the edges of my tank?

thanks

You will be fine if you hang it. Sure the unit itself will be an inch longer on each side, but the light will still be right in the center. Could even use the legs that come with it, since they slide in/out.

Older picture, but here is mine -- 30" version over my 29. Can see that the light itself is centered. Won't have an issue with the moon lights either.
