In that picture it was the one that came with the unit (( 14 K )). Right now I am using the Reefflux 12K, it is a bit "boring" IMO. Thinking of putting a Phoenix back in there.

For an 18" tank you would be fine with a 150w... If you were doing the 30x18x21, I'd do 250w...

I have kept an RBTA and kept great color on my SPS with a 150w in an 18" deep tank...

The monti in the center above the Blasto, grew and got brighter under the 150w Sunpod...

You are going to be hanging it right? How high above the tank do you plan on having it.

If you like a bluer look, and would be using a higher K bulb, might want to think about the 250 watt one -- to make up for loss of PAR.

And if it matters, the ballast for the 250 is external, whereas the 150 has an internal one (( believe electronic ))

I don't think that the 250w would be too much... And as Toddrtrex stated, you can use a 20k bulb if you like the bluer look since you won't have any true actinics...
