Superglue Gel TICKING ME OFF!

Vapour1ze

I'm an Addict.
So I use superglue gel, for glueing sps frags to rocks, glue on the frag out of the water then into the tank on the rock, set there for a little while let go falls off, it never sets up............

Woke up this morning to a nice tort I bought the other day in the anemone,,, which I'm assuming will now die, because it hit the anemone,,,, It neverrrrrrrr works for me, unless I do everything out of the water. Any advice?

yeah, use a whole tube of the stuff for one frag. Make a huge glop on the base of the frag, use a turkey baster to fully blow any sediment off the rock mount location. apply the frag to the rock with a twisting motion to break the skin that forms when the glue hits the water. Then hold it without moving for a full minute. Brace your arm against the rim of the tank to insure you dont move at all. It also helps if there is a rough indention on the rock that the frag can rest in...in other words, not on a smooth domed area.

I have had luck with putting a big blob on, then when you get it in place give it a little twist and wiggle, to break the skin of the gel again. Hope that makes sense.
Or, can you glue it on a small piece of LR out of the water then glue that to the rock in the tank.

Good luck

I gave up with it and moved back to the liquid super glue, it doesn't take that long out of water and if I'm worried about the coral drying I just squirt some water on it with a pipette.

I use the superglue - epoxy sandwich method. It involves, glue on the frag, a bit of epoxy, then superglue again. Place it where you want it, give it a bit of a twist, hold for about 10 sec....and that's it. Been using this method for all my frags..never had a problem with loose corals.

If you have a film of diatoms covering the rock you're trying to clue it onto you don't have a chance.

Find a way to buff whichever area you're gluing it too. And the glue must contact the rock before it develops that cloudy surface tension. You can just bring the tube of superglue underwater it's no problem.

The twist wiggle method works. But I like to glue the frag to some rubble (out of the water) and then use some epoxy to cement it to the LR structure.
