if i put superglue gel on a plug out of the water. then try to put it on a rock that i cant move in the water will the glue harden before i can stick it together?

The glue will not harden but it will film over once it hits the water. Can you twist the plug to break the film seal at all? That will help.

The best way to attach plugs is the aqua mend (plumbers epoxy) and superglue method. Glue/Epoxy ball smush on end of plug and glue on bottom of epoxy and smush on rock in tank and hold for 30 seconds. The glue really just holds it in place long enough to allow the expoxy to start to harden and attach. Works the best for me.

Are you near a Lowes or Home Depot? Just pick up the plumbers epoxy sticks for around $4 bucks... same stuff as the aquarium version

I was wondeing that, I got some but wasn't shure if I should try it.

Moisture speeds up the setting of super glue but also turns it white. If you are quick and use the thick gel, sometimes it will stick underwater but not as well as normal. You might be able to invert a clear glass in the aquarium bringing a "diving bell" of air down to the rock. How you get the disk and the superglue inside the glass is your call.:D

I no longer use epoxy putty at all. It's more of a pain, and really only holds about as well as a suction cup... if you don't get it first shot, and it starts to crumble, then your skimmer goes crazy.

However, as stated above Harvey's plumber's putty (blue and white tube) is fine to use, as well as aquamend.

Superglue gel works fine, and is how I mount all my corals in my tank. Just put it on the end of the frag plug, coral, or surface you want to glue outside the water, then stick it in place... hold for 15 seconds and you're good to go.
