Superman Monti - Discolored

I got a frag of Superman Monti from a friend...the "base" turned white on him and the polyps were widespread and more of a burgundy, rather than red.

So I got the frag, attached the two pieces to a plug and voila....it's growing rather quickly. I've kept it in the bottom of my tank, and new growth has a blue tint to it, but not the deep blue it's supposed to be...and the polyps are still a little brownish rather than red....

Someone suggested I should be keeping it much higher in the tank...what do you guys think?

There is a pic attached

Move it up slowly, they can handle the light if acclimated to it slowly.

I moved it up 3"...maybe another 3-6" in another week and so on??

I have a piece of Tyree Poker Star that is basically the same way...the bright blue base has faded...the bright green polyps are "rusty" looking...Does it need the same treatment??

Thanks so much!

It depends on the conditions it came from. If you buy a coral at a LFS, look at what it is under, and how deep. Try and match the conditions as closely as you can, the same applies to getting corals from a friend. I like to buy brown corals, I put them low in the tank and raise them a little every week or two. In this case, I would raise them 3" a week but watch them, you will usually know if it is stressed.
