superman montipora

I am wondering if anyone can tell me why all of the polyps are fully open day and night on my superman montipora. This makes the coral look red instead of blue. The coral is at the top of my 210gal 6 year old established tank about 8 inches from the water surface. I have 3 250 HQI metal halide phonix 14k bulbs on about 6 hours a day to save on my power bill and my t5 atinic bulbs run about 10 hrs a day. The coral is growing and is now about 12 inches wide. I have a hard time believing that it is not getting enoug light. Thanks for your input.

I think this is pretty normal, I never see my superman or sunset montis close their polyps, I'm still able to see the blue underneath though...

Sounds like you have a happy specimen. Mine is the same way and has grown like mad. One of my favorite peices for sure!
