Supplemental Feeding for Urchin

The title pretty much says it. I've recently been shuffling tanks around and have a green caribbean urchin (Echinometra viridis) in a 55 with little to no coraline or turf algae available. (I removed 60% of the live rock) Any one have any success with alternative foods for these guys? If at all possible I'd like to keep it in the 55.

I hear people have success with various algae disks... Tough to say though if it would get out-competed with other ortanisms in your tank

I've heard that blanched dandelion greens are accepted by most urchins as supplemental food(good time of year for them too!). Just make sure they haven't been fertilized/sprayed.

And yet it's ignoring my stand of ulva...

I think it may be on a diet. I'll try some nori, algae wafers & the like this week.
