Big Goose the corals like it, They open up I know. But the long term effects of feed too much juice can be real bad.

Philip

How is it bad?

I know it can lead to higher NO3 but they are fine thanks to AZ-NO3 and Prime. I have a lot of current in the tank so it washes the resude from the corals.

Prime binds heavy metals. I wonder what it does to Strontium. I suppose you test for Sr and Mg.

Tomoko

I also add Mg and Stronium. I became a believer in Prime about 6 months ago when my NO3 got high. I read on the Prime bottle that it reduces the "sting" from high NO3. Right after I dosed with Prime, the Zoo's got very happy.

It can take po4 real high real fast, even with the best po4 sponges. po4 is not too bad if you have no calcium corals, and can keep the alega under control. PO4 make laying down new calcium on corals very hard.

No3 should be controled with water changes, good skimming and bio. Not with chemicals, these chemicals can do many things that we don't know about. For that matter they won't even tell us what is in Prime. It's not sodium thiosulfate.

Wow, how many chemicals do you use in that tank?
What is the ppm of sting anyways ? :)

Seriously, with so many chemicals and interactions going on, using Prime to try to control a consistent nitrate problem is, problematic.
Do you not know what is causing the nitrate problem in the first place, and why not correct that?
