That should be fine. It also depends how much vertical rise you have, 90's, couplings, and ball valves. There is a calculator on Reefcentrals hompage.

Have you considered drilling your tank instead of hanging an overflow on it?

Or actually just run 1inch tubing from the sump to the tank instead of drilling.

I have mine run from the sump to the tank. I used to have the closed loop running but closed it off due to flow issues. Its run from a mag 9 to the tank.

hey quick question my patients are coming to me a tiny bit!!!! is there a major chance of a overflow box flooding my house????? If so then no overflow box for me my parents would kill me to see the basement full of water even though i spilled alot refilling the tank when just starting lol

Again not sure about overflow boxes. I have a hole just below the waterline for the return to make sure the suction breaks.
