I got a Vortech which I'm just toying with and seeing how it runs on my 36g, but I plan to upgrade to a 70g in a few months time.
One thing I've noticed is that I no longer have much of the surface agitation I had with my other pumps (obviously since they were about 10" deep but pointing at the surface etc). Is there a way to position the pump to provide better surface agitation?
I pretty much run in reef crest mode (not much luck with waves in this size tank, but no biggie). If I push the pump closer to the surface it drags down a funnel of air. Will this cause harm to the pump in any way? I know with my Koralias it really grinds hard.
If I try harder to get some wave action will this help instead (Any advice on getting waves with a single pump in a smaller tank?).
Beyond that I'm very happy with the pump so far. A bit noisier then I thought it would be, but easily drowned out by my loud AquaC remora and with the night mode it doesn't interrupt my sleeping any way.
Very happy with the product so far!
