Surface chip in 150 gallon. Advice please!

I just noticed a small chip in the front pane of glass on my 150 gallon. It's right in the middle of the front pane and just on the surface of the glass. I just acquired this tank and it has not been set up yet. It appears that its just a small 1/8" surface chip on 1/2" thick glass. It points outwards, so I couldn't see a crack foming across the front pane. Is this something to be worried about or is this more of a cosmetic problem. Any input from persons who are experienced with glass or glass chips is greatly appreciated!

The pictures show the front and then the side views.

I know a few people with large scale tanks that have had something similar happen. They have always held water perfectly and never have had an issue with it. I have a 37Gallon that has had a half dollar surface chip out of it on the back of it and it has held for the last 18 years. Im not using it at the moment, but I have had it filled numorous times without issues. Just keep an eye on it and you can also fill it with GE1 silicone to prevent it getting bumped or chipped anymore if you desire but its not needed.

From the pics it appears to be cosmetic. At this point I would not worry about but would watch it to see if it grows.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's what I was hoping to hear. I may just give it some time to make sure it doesn't spread and then just trim the base and corners up with some oak trim. Thanks again, I feel a lot better now.

You can purchase the resin online that pros use to repair glass, both auto and plate glass. It cures harder than glass and is optically very clear. That should stop any cracks from spreading.
