ok so about 8 months ago i broke down my 30 gallon tall and went to a 12 cude. in my 30 gallon i had a watchman goby that went MIA about 2 months before i switched tanks. well during that time i went out and bought a yellow clown goby that is doing wonderfully well in my12 gallon tank. this morning whill watching my tank from the side i noticed a fish in the fuge part of the tank. nothing is in that part but the heater. looking closed i found out that it is the watchman!!!! ok how he got into the tank is a thinker on its own..now i need to get some advise ...1 how to get him out of there and 2 can the clown and watchman live together in the same tankk. i guess i should also tell you i have to mail order my fish do to the fact that the LFS i used to go to went out of business. please help. any info would be welcomed.

thanks

sounds like your watchman goby holed up in some live rock and was transfered to the new tank with it. can you syphon him out of the chamber he's in? maybe some 3/4 or 1 inch tubing could suck him out. i am not sure, but i think a watchman and clown goby should get along just fine. good luck.

According to "Marine Fishes" Watchman Gobies are typically jumpers. They will attack other types of gobies especially in smaller tanks. I would leave him where he is if he's doing good there.

I would think that they would get along, but don't quote me on that.

As for getting it out, siphoning it out is your best bet (wow, siphoning looks like such a weird word) with some tubing.

ya was doing some reading and i am thinking that it is best if i left him were his is for the time being. i figure he lived there for 8 months can't be all that bad. was thinking of starting a 5 gallon tank and if i do that i will bring my clown goby to the 5 gallon and try to get the watchman. i still cant for the life of me figure out how he got into the back of the tank. there really isnt any jumping room when the lid is down. guess this will be one of lifes little mysteries..lol
the siphoning will be a challenge seeing that all the pluming is were he is at. he went under the pump when i tried ot get him out the first time..truth be told that is why i am leaving him in there..cant get him out with out breaking down the hole tank..lol
thanks for your help.
