SW and leather furniture

I'm setting up a new reef. One of the prime locations in my home is within 3' of an expensive leather furniture set.

I've heard lots of stories of aresoled SW damaging leather and metal in the same room as tanks. What do you guys think is a safe distance?

I've seen large (125 gallon) saltwater tanks setup near leather furniture for years and never saw a problem. The wall behind the tank on the other hand showed signs of water damage
