I'm working on trying to train one to be out right now. It's about an 1" long and seems to be getting more comfortable out of the rock every day. I think it has to do with if you just drop it into your DT or try to train it with other fish and eating habits first. My fish are out and about most when they want food which seems like all the time...
So to answer your question; I highly doubt it. Especially if it wasn't out and eating at the lfs or wherever you got it from.
I picked him up last Sunday after seeing the SB a couple of weeks ago at the LFS and he was out and eating well. So, I went ahead and took it home after I again witnessed him eating and doing well. (LFS said, "They had it for 3 weeks.")
The tank it's in, is a 90 bow front. I have 2 big rocks sitting along the back wall of my tank, one is 15lbs and the other is 22lbs. I moved the two rocks forward about an inch or so from the glass. Do you think I need to move them forward some more to give the SB more room to swim? Or leave them so it feels safe?
