Swapping tanks

I started cycling my 20 gal just after Christmas, everything went quite well and is in great shape at this time. Last week I scored a 30 and a 40 gal tank and would like to transfer everything from my 20 into my 30 (the 40 will be built into a sump for a future project...) mainly because after setting up my 20 with CC I read that Aragonite sand is much better.

My question is can I transfer everything over from my 20 (excluding the CC) without cycling the new tank or should I just start the 30 from scratch? I am very patient and have NO PROBLEM waiting for the 30 to cycle if needed. No matter what
I will be using some tank water from the 20 as well as a used filter sponge to assist in cycling the 30. Thanks. -Steve

Hopefully I'll be able to get the 30 up and running by the end of the week. I've got the filter that I'll be using on it currently running (sponge only) in my 20 to load it with some bacteria. As mentioned above I'll use maybe 10 gal of water and about 10 lbs LR from my 20 to get the cycle kick started.

Can I also put some CC from my 20 in a small plastic container and sink it in the 30 to help with the cycle then remove it once the cycle is finished? Thanks again. -Steve
