Swapping

I havent read anything in reguards to what we are and are not allowed to trade here. Lets say that I had a certain musical instrument that I wanted to trade for a skimmer, powerheads and etc.... Is that against the rules?

As long as you are bartering for aquarium stuff, I don't see a problem with it. But then, I don't make the rules, I don't remember seeing anything prohibiting that, but as I said, I just use this place and don't know all the rules

can't help you with the trade either as the only music I am any good at is the radio....

I haven't read the rules but from what I have seen in the past, if it's not "reef related" you can't post it to sale here. I don't know about trading though.

What is exactly "reef related" though. I know James listed a bunch of tools here and in reality, not reef related but the thread wasn't removed. Then it was mentioned as tools to build a stand/canopy.

If that's the case, then why not list your car here and say somethin' like....it will be a good vehicle to get you to and from the fish store. Or, great storage for those water jugs. Which now makes the car "reef related" because it's bein' advertised as a vehicle to use to go to the fish store.

It doesn't really matter to me. I don't see a problem with listin' stuff not reef related, but I don't make the rules either. I would have loved to listed one of my bass guitars here....and the money would have been used to by commonstrangers 24 cube....but it sold. Can't we sale items for "reef related" money?

In general, the mods are pretty nice to us and let us govern our own forum in regards to off-topic posts. Meaning, in general, they allow threads of that nature to exist in our forum as long as people aren't complaining (whereas you could not get away with posting something like that in the main selling/trading forum).

I personally see nothing wrong with it given that you are looking for specific reef equipment and you aren't really intending to profit off of it (i.e., you aren't using the forum as another craigslist).

But, in the end, I don't have the say...

I know lots of guys in MTRC are into music so if you post you are looking for a XYZ and can offer a XYZ as trade I don't see the harm. But I also don't make the rules .

I'm checking with the mods. For selling there is a 50 post minimum, but this is something to trade for frags, so that is more like purchasing frags. I don't particularly see any problem with it, but I'll let the mods make the call

Sorry, no you may not sell/trade anything nonreef related. If something hasn't been removed before, it's just because we didn't see it.
