Hello l'm new to this forum and have a question. l have a swc 160 cone skimmer and l unplugged it to clean the collection cup and when l plugged it back in it doesnt fill with bubbles and skim like it normally does. any suggestions comments please help
:eek1:

Sounds like a clog of some sort. The pump runs, just not pulling air or is the pump not even running?

You'll probably need to pull it apart and clean it all.

ok well l took the skimmer apart cleaned the whole thing still nothing. l had my hands in the tank for a while yesterday and the day before moving stuff around and epoxing corals to rocks was wondering if maybe that had something to do with it. ldk l'm at a loss l dont want to leave it plugged in for fear of burning the pump out but if its something that just needs to be cycled through the pump then it needs to be left on no? l can adjust the water level so l know theres water going into the pump just no air
to make bubbles l guess

Is the pump shooting out water and no bubbles are being made? If thats the case, it could be from adding epoxy or having your hands in the tank, all skimmers do that because of oils that get into the tank. I'd leave it running it will fix itself.

There's a screw on the top of the air inlet - take the cap of the air inlet off and make sure the hole is not clogged.

ok took the screw out that has now been cleaned also, still nothing. l can adjust the water level by about a 1/2 inch when l turn the red knob can hear the pump but just not skimming and the water wont go all the way up the cone only about an inch above the white platform

Ok i have the same skimmer and had the same issue once. There is an air bubble in the pump, take the airline tube and blow into it with the pump turned on. It will fire right up. Only happened once when mine was new.

Mine does that same thing every time I unplug it. What I do is unplug it and lift it out of the water letting all the water from the intake whole. Once you drain it plug it back while still holding it out of the water. Then slowly lower it into the water and problem solved.
