Swc 160 problems

Science and Honor!
So this morning around 3 am I got up cus I had parked in my neighbors driveway to move my truck and as I'm walking by my tank I hear the sound of micro bubbles...all I could think of was my ago running out but I had just filled up my ato and I wondered what it could be and again for the second time my swc went crazy and just was overflowing like crazy! This is the second time last time it left a bunch of water damage on the inside of my stand this time luckily I was up at 3am to clean it up...but it get worse yesterday I seen the cue at the point where i should have been cleaning it and since I didn't...everything got thrown back into my tank. So gubk was everywhere i couldn't stop my skimmer from overflowing and i was half awake... So it was horrible morning

So have any of u guys hadthis problem? Mine really starts to bug out when I do water changes and there's really nothing i can do about it...

one thing to consider as you trouble shoot...where is you ato water dumping into the sump? if next to the skimmer, then the skimmer will suck in the ato water which is 'leaner' and cause this to happen.

No mine only Likes to overflow off I feed oyster feast.

Just turn your skimmer off after you do a water change for like an hour then turn it on

I just now turned it back on anddddd again just keeps overflowing but this time it's just the bubbles that keep flowing not so watery no mater where I put the water level on it it just keeps over flowing

And il try to change it so that the ro goes into the return section but it's neve overflowed cus of that but il wait and find out

Crazy how high is you water level???
Your AT0 always works?

Where's

Is

Gumbi?¿?¿

He has one of these I think¿

On the up side how are your rastas?

That's what I do. If I fire it back up right after a water change it goes nuts.

ALternatively you can just turn the little white ring (underneath the adjustment valve) to let some air in. Then after an hour you tighten it back up to raise the water livel. That way you collect a nice skim on top of the bubbles, but don't overflow your skimmer.

I think it went back to normal right now ugh took long enough! Lol

But my Rastas seem to like dirty water I didn do a water change for 2 weeks and another polyp came out il be stopping by ur place with Peter some time soon so u can help me frag them and well trade

I had the same problem with mine 1 time. I woke up to go to work and there were water splashes all over the inside of my stand, on the wiring, outlets and everything. It hasnt happened since though. **crossing fingers it wont happen again**

mine only did that when i did waterchanges... but i would leave it running with out the cup and put it back on an hour later...

um...

some things that come to my mind are...

did you just change your filter sock...?
is the air valve open all the way...¿
how opened is the outlet gate...?
how many inches of water is it in...?
where is the water level inside the cone...? not the bubbles, but the actual water level...
is the ato feed in the same chamber as the skimmer...?
are you dosing anything for phosphate like drops, or stuff for nitrate like a carbon source...?
when it's running normally, what type of skim are you getting, wet or dry...?

i expect answers in a form of a question...

See told you he has one^

yep... you win...

here's your prize...

mine doesn't overflow even after a water change. but it will go kinda nuts if I add a filter sock for when I blow off the rocks right before a water change. If the skimmer goes nuts and won't stop overflowing. You can always hook up the drain line to the cup and let it drain into a bucket or something till it goes back to normal. Instead of leaving it off forever.

mine doesn't over flow anymore... i don't know if it is because i was using DnD or because i raised the water level a lot more than how it was before...

i was also thinking about hooking up a hose, but raising the drain in the collector cup so if it over flows, it doesn't drain out or back into the protein skimmer... know what i'm sayinnnnn...?

but if i do that, i'm gonna be lazy in cleaning the collection cup like when i had the ETSS 800pro...

I had the same problem 2 times before and both times happened right after I turned off the pump and then turned it back on. I suspect that the pump has inconsistencies each time it fires back up. Now I just keep the cup off and let it run half an hour and then put the cup back on. Also how high is the water level? You might want to raise your skimmer.

Ok I'm back! And ok gumbii I was gonna try to answer as questions but I'm not good at jeopardy...sooo here we go

I actually use d&d when I do wc,
I don't dose anything Just do weekly water changes
And I don't use filter socks anymore(gumbii tip can't believe I listened) lol but it havnt had changes for better or worse
Ok air valve where it was when I took it out the box
Water level is a little below the where the collecting cup starts
And lastly I think the water level is roughly 10 inches or 9 one of the two I was thinking of standing it on some eggcrate maybe different water level would help and I would setup the skimmer run off thing but I need like a thing Tupperware to fit in the back of my stand

I'm kinda thinking the same so tomorrow il throw some eggcrate under it and hopefully it helps out but I won't know till the next wc

make sure the air valve is open all the way...

i think my unit is 10" of water... i never made sure...

but are you trying ti get a wet skim...?
