lol hard poll man, Askoll's are badass tried and true, and bubble blasters are bad *** themselves, I like the gate valves on the new SRO units but depending on the model your askolls can pull more air. Very tough decision, both rock

however, if it is the NEW swc300a cone it comes with the gate valve as well on a cone body, I would prolly choose the swc300a, the askoll is tried and true pulling more air than the bubble blasters. But i do love both!

Huskyglare...please share some pics of your new skimmer and let us know what the noise level is like compared to your SWC 200. I just returned the 180 for the 300A in hopes that the noise level will be less.

The 300a has the same.pump as my 230 cone and that sucker is quiet, the air being drawn is louder(and its not loud either.)

Coralvue's customer service is not bad, but SWC is excellent. From what I've heard SWC is the leader and the other the knock-off. Then again I have 3 SWC skimmers.

I had to vote for the XP since it has really served me well so far; only 3 months :lmao: Seriously, I am pretty impressed considering what I paid for it as its silent and seems to pull crazy amounts of gunk out of my tank. The only complaints I have really seen on the XP is that the splashing can be loud but thats only if you run the skimmer extremely shallow. I know; water covering the water exhaust creates back pressure but so does the gate valves, so whats the difference?! So I run mine at the water line and problem is solved.

Now, what steered me away from the SWC was 1 complaint in particular of the askoll drawing almost double the watts from the wall. Hey everyone has a bum pump every once and a while, it happens, but I didnt want to risk it.

Either skimmer is probably going to run great; let us know which you choose, I still think both are great. I might try the SWC160 for my shallow 70g.

I heard SWC manufacturer has very bad customer service. I bought my skimmer from Fluke. I've heard he has excellent customer service.
