Sweetest thing ever!!!!

it was amazing...
i got a 3 inch o. scyllarus about a month ago. earlier in the summer i caught a bunch of small crawfish about 1 inch long in order to feed my future pet....well..by the time i got the mantis there was only one crawfish left and this thing is now eating size!
well...a couple days after i got my mantis...i had them fight...nothing was happening so i conviced (poked with a stick) the crawfish to go in the mantis'cave....hehe..snap snap and there goes the crawfish pincher....well...half of it...but besides that it was boring. now its been about 2 weeks after the mantis' first molting...and he grew quite a bit...so i just made the two fight again....man the mantis flew after it this time and never stopped snapping...until he got tired anyways...he punch a hole right through the crawfish shel and took off a leg and put a hole throught his tail....somehow the crawfish is still allive...but that was a great show....

wow your ****ing pathetic... what are you 10 years old? You think that torturing stuff like that is cool?

Well good for you, you dont even deserve a mantis.

? its a crawfish come on. We throw them alive in boiling water for a snack :D Or use them for catfish bait. I remember a video a few months back where a guy did the exact same thing and posted it. Heck I've still got it. Even though it took for ever cause the servers kept going down due to the high demand. Calm down shesh.

thanks 8ball....my thoughts exactly...and its not even like i raised this crawfish for that specific reason....it was gonna be food anyways...it just grew too fast....would it have been better to flush it???

I think he means saying something like that is "****ing sweet" is a little stupid. I mean, being happy about your mantises first kill is one thing, but saying that a crawfish getting a hole through its shell and 1 through its tail PLUS losing a leg and SURVIVING it-enduring it- is the "Sweetest thing ever" is a little immature.

I'm thinking the Fight and the amount of damage these things can do, was what he thought was sweet not really the fact that the crawfish survived all banged up.

to make animals fight is wrong. i haev no problem with you using the crayfish as food. the mantis has got to eat. but for you to encourage the fight is disgusting. that is all i have to say

Hey! I dont encourage it! I just admit that the force of these creatures is awe-inspiring! :(

Dude...low blow...I didn't mean the fight was cool, I meant "mr mantis" was cool. Now that you've brought that up, being the conservationalist-and-anti-animal-cruelty-to-animals pansy I am, I'm going to end up remembering this post every time I put somethin live in the tank for my mantis...and the major fact still stands, I get MY FIRST MANTIS TOMORROW god$@#$#%...

i am not attacking you sdm. not at all. this post was not for you. i am sorry if ya misuderstood. i was letting fuegofish know i did not agree with him
that is all
please dont be mad at me sdm. i was not attacking you

I'm just really annoyed (i.e. ******off) with myself cause this has always been my downfall when it comes to this hobby...having a problem with this crap is a MAJOR PIA for an aquaria keeper...sheesh... I get choked up at the smallest damn things...I mean I swear, if there was a save the *______* for everything that has bothered me in the past it'd be: save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save those snails....

i know how it is. i am very much for animal rights, but i also understand that critters have to eat. as long as the feeder animal is treated humanely till eaten then i have no problem.

Yeah...been getting a bit better at that...still is enough of a problem to remain a PIA- thats actually why I was so touchy about that subject...it really sucks.

ya i understand monkey 21....reading the post now it did sound stupid...but i wrote it right after it happened and it was just cool to see the mantis in action...i dont do things like that regularly..and ur entitled to your own opinion.
sdm..is right, i was only excited because i had never seen a mantis do that before, at least with my own eyes. i dont torture animals for enjoyment...it was just to see the mantis hunt.
and i was just amazed that the crawfish survived. hes in his own tank now...recovering....not sure what im gonna do with him...too big for mantis to eat..
sorry if i offended anyone...didnt really mean to...some people just react to harshly...

..... I have two red lip bleenies that I swear I am going to put in the micowave when I catch them:D and eat them:eek:
