swelling on face

this little guy hitched with my sand. he's been in the tank since day 1 and has seemed to do well. he eats algae all day, swims fine and is playful. the only thing i see wrong is the swelling or lump under his right gill (right side face as your looking at him). what can this be? and should i remove him ?

I'll take a stab at it, if for no other reason than to give you a bump (because I really don't know what it is). But my "best guess" would be a tumor or internal growth of some sort. Not much you can do about it. Let the fish live his life and see what happens.

Ok, was thinking something like that, he seems real healthy otherwise.
