Swimming update

Hey all,

Yep, still dry but lurking. I could not find the original thread for all you old timers, but...

Its the end of another school year (junior) and state companionships were conducted 2 weeks ago at Vandy.

Kyle is the 100 Backstroke state owner. He is the runner-up in the 200 Free; the winner of the race set the US High school record for this event.

Sectional are in 3 weeks and he has qualifying times for Jr. Nationals. Wish us luck.

I'll be up there in May for Eastman's golf tourney at the cat tails and the transportation seminar thing. I think my boss/VP will be a speaker this year. We won the golf tourney last year! We brought in two ringers, my VP's son-in-law who is like 6'7" and played golf since 10 - he wins longest drive all the time with 350+ and a golf instructor who's now Shannon's fiance'. (you remember Shannon.. ) PM me your number if you can join me for a drink at the hotel. (last year I met an ex-Raider superbowl winner at the bar - too cool)

Congrats!
I dont know what the odds are but im actually currently a senior at WKU on a swimming scholarship. Glad to see fellow swim families since it's not a widely recognized sport but we put so much time into it. Another fellow backstroker, tell him goodluck. I only go a 50. in the 100 back but we have Sunbelt Conf. Champs in Nashville next week so maybe ill drop some time. Good luck to your son at trials this summer!

Kyle has 3 Olympic Trial cuts. We are flying to Omaha this Friday so he can swim against the very best the US has to offer. Just amazing.

Another update. Kyle was offered scolarships from UT, Ga, and Auburn. I'm sad he did not pick UT but after meeting the team and coaching staff at Auburn, I understand why. The coach actually promised us 1 national championship in the next 4 years! My son is going to be a War Tiger Eagel, eh Eagal Tiger, um...wait. Seriously, it was very surreal; I met two Olympians today.

Hello old reefers,

Still here and getting excited! My twins are graduating tomorrow, both going to D1A and scholarship abound.

Sammy is headed for UT (my alma mater) and has an academic scholarship.

Kyle was just presented with athlete of the year for NE TN. He set two state records in Feb., and went to Vancouver BC representing the US as a Jr national team swimmer.

He took second in both of his premier events (both were won by last years Olympians from Can.) He selected Auburn as his University much to my dismay, but what the hell; they are #1 in the nation in swimming this year.

Hope to return to wet feet soon.

Great news Charles.

We certainly would like to wish you back into the club. Hope it can happen. Auburn is not too far. He can visit when the laundry has piled up, especially if there is the perpetual hands outstretched for $$$$$.
