Swissguard basslet owners, what are your tankmates?

Title says it all.

I'm particularly curious about how mine might fare with a royal gramma, and/or a McCosker's wrasse.

Not a Swissguard but I have a Swalesii basslet together with a royal gramma no problem at all. I can't see the McCosker's causing any trouble either.

I have a Mowbrayi basslet (very similar to a swissguard) with a green chromis, blackcap jawfish, ocellaris clown, banded sleeper goby (juvie), and a yellow canary wrasse (juvie) in a 29gal.

I've never witnessed any aggression between any of them (and i've had them for quite a while).

You should be okay with the gramma and the wrasse. I have a Swalesii basslet with a pair of cherub angels, pair of clowns, starry blenny, and a pair of neon gobies.. no problems at all.

IME reef basslets rarely look for a fight but if one comes their way they can hold their own. One thing to note is that these fish will be more visible in a tank with small or peaceful fish...

Bump, thanks for the replies! Hoping to hear from some more Swissguard owners, or at least other Liopropoma sp. owners.

There aren't too many of us it seems!

Just an update: I found out the hard way NOT to add neon gobys once the basslet is established. I spent three weeks QTing a pair of them, and my Swissguard ate them both in less than 24 hours.

He had lived peacefully with a different pair of neons for a year and a half in my 29g. This, and the fact they are cleaner fish made me think there would be no problem.

Granted, he is a little bigger now than he was then, and these new neons were a little smaller. Perhaps that was all it took, I don't know.

Lesson learned. :(
